We lost Angus on November 5, 2011. Though he had been unwell for quite some time and we knew the end was coming, neither Joe nor I was prepared for the enormous hole left in our lives and hearts. It was seven months yesterday and the pain, though not as fresh, is still sharp.
Just 21 days after Angus' passing, we drove to Mesa to meet our new foster dog, Wendi. I was nervous, since she was blind and needed an eye removed. Little did I know, she suffered from the same physical issues that our dear Angus struggled with. I was moved to tears at the vet's office, while Terri and Ted from APARN and Joe and the vet looked her over. Excusing myself from the room, I quickly made a decision: I couldn't deal with another dog like Angus, not so soon.
Then I went back in the room and said, "Ok, we'll take her."

Wendi was so sweet and so loving and so funny. And, really, she isn't very adoptable, so why not keep her? Give her a wonderful place to spend her golden years?
Suckers. That's us.
Next time...more proof of that.
